In an effort to best serve my patients, I chose to further my education past the Masters level to earn my Doctorate degree in physical therapy, and I continually broaden my knowledge-base by attending professional conferences and educational courses. However, I practice with the philosophy that patients do not care how much I know until they know how much I care. I possess a sincere compassion for my patients and a vested interest in their well-being, and each and every day I strive to emphasize the importance of keeping the “care” in “healthcare.”

I began my professional career as a clinical instructor in the Department of Physical Therapy at Clarkson University, and although I enjoyed my role in academia, my heart was in patient care. Thankfully, I have the great fortune of applying my teaching skills everyday in the clinic, through patient education. I truly believe an educated patient is a healthier patient, which is why I focus on teaching patients and/or their caregivers in an attempt to make them more independent in their recovery. “If I treat a patient, I can help him today. If I teach a patient, I can help him for a lifetime.”
Courses Taught: Cardiopulmonary Physical Therapy; Orthopedic Clinical Laboratory; Scientific Basis of Healthcare; Physical Therapy Licensure Review Course
Lectures Given: Addressing Childhood Obesity; Back Injury Prevention; Sign Language for the Healthcare Professional; Performing Arts Injury Prevention
Because of my great passion for the field of physical therapy and my high expectations for the future direction of the field, I feel it is important to be actively involved in the processes by which the profession is governed. By the same token, I feel it is imperative to promote the benefits of the profession and to encourage and foster the interest, growth, and development of the future leaders in this dynamic healthcare field.
